Letter To My Daughter is the third book of essays Dr. Maya Angelou wrote and this letter 51oR6fXU1ZL._SX323_BO1,204,203,200_is dedicated to all young women, who she refers to as her daughters. She shares some of her encounters as a young black woman and mother, lessons she learned and how she conquered challenges she endured. Indeed she’s a phenomenal woman! The book is highly inspirational and full of Maya Angelou’s veracious wisdom. Her letter comprises of short essays and poetry. My favorite short essay is titled Commencement Address. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, you can read it in one sitting. The book is described as a handbook that is filled with life learning lessons. I do intend on rereading the book and sharing it with other young women.


What I Know For Sure by  Oprah Winfrey

Genre: Non-Fiction


World Renowned television host, businesswoman, and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey haswhat-i-know-for-sure-cover.jpg several best-seller books. This book consists of themes, which are the chapters, and each theme is thoroughly explained with a personal encounter and ends off with a  lesson Oprah uncovered relating to the theme. Towards the end of each theme, she starts the last paragraph with ‘What I know for sure…’ The book provides readers with a brief snippet of Oprah’s upbringing, family, friends, and career.  I enjoyed reading this book and have highlighted several paragraphs and definitions of some themes. This book will definitely leave you inspired!
